
ESTRO-SIEMENS
MEETING FELLOWSHIPS FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE 2008
The aim of this fellowship is to provide Central and Eastern European scientists (radiation oncologists, radiobiologists, radiation physicists and radiation technologists) with an opportunity to present the results of their experimental or clinical research to an international audience. Fellowships will cover registration, travel and accommodation expenses. For this purpose, a lump sum will be made available.
Criteria for Eligibility
- Before applying for the fellowship, candidates should be ESTRO members.
- Priority will be given to young candidates whose abstracts are accepted for oral or poster presentation.
- The research project should be carried out in an institute in Central or Eastern Europe or be the result of the collaboration of such an institute with another European Institute.
- Applications should be accompanied by a CV, copy of the abstract and recommendation by the candidate’s Head of Department.
ESTRO-SIEMENS POSTER AWARD
Siemens will be awarding two prizes of €1500 each to the best scored posters submitted.
ESTRO-VARIAN AWARD
A prize of €7500 will be given to a radiotherapy professional for research in the field of radiobiology, radiation physics, clinical radiotherapy or radiation technology.
Criteria for Eligibility
- Before applying for the award, candidates should be ESTRO members, having completed the submitted work in the previous year. Submissions should be brought forward by the candidates or their department heads and may be work done as an individual piece of research or as a thesis complete in the field of biological, physical and clinical research.
- Candidates should be younger than 36. Exceptions will be made for female applicants who have had to interrupt their research for pregnancy/maternity reasons; for them the maximum age is 40.
- Candidates should submit:
- A curriculum vitae and a list of publications
- An abstract on the project on-line, and send a copy to maria.sapriza@estro.be
- An English summary of their work (max 2 pages)
- The candidates should commit themselves to writing an original paper in English on (part of) the scientific work carried out. This paper should be based on previously unpublished data and should be written according to the “Instructions to authors” of the Journal “Radiotherapy and Oncology” in which it will be published if accepted.
ESTRO-ACCURAY AWARD
A prize of €7500 will be given to a radiotherapy professional for research in the field of “High Precision Radiotherapy”. Candidates may be qualified in the field of Clinical Radiotherapy, Radiation Physics, Radiation Technology or Radiobiology.
Criteria for Eligibility
- Candidates should be ESTRO members, having completed the submitted work in the previous or current year.
- Submissions should be brought forward by the candidates and may be work done as an individual piece of research or as a thesis completed in the field of biological, physical or clinical research.
- Candidates should submit:
- A curriculum vitae and a list of publications
- An abstract on the subject on-line
- An English summary of their work (max 2 pages)
- The candidates should also commit themselves to writing an original paper in English on (part of) the scientific work carried out. This paper should be based on previously unpublished data and should be written according to the “Instructions to authors” of the Journal “Radiotherapy and Oncology” in which it will be published if accepted.
ESTRO-JACK FOWLER – UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AWARD 2008
A single prize of €1000 will be given for the best abstract in the field of radiation physics or radiation technology, submitted for ESTRO 27.
Criteria for Eligibility
- Before applying for the award, candidates should be ESTRO members.
- Candidates should be younger than 36. Exceptions will be made for female applicants who have had to interrupt their research for pregnancy/maternity reasons; for them the maximum age is 40.
- Candidates should submit:
- A curriculum vitae
- A letter from their department head stating that the work has been done by the applicant
- An abstract on radiation physics or radiation technology for presentation at ESTRO 27.
